When using essential oils there are a few things you need to remember and keep in mind:
  • The essential oils are very concentrated and should be used sparingly.  It usually means counting drops not ounces!
  • Always READ the label and heed all cautions and warnings.
  • Always know what the oil is used for. There are some oils that can be dangerous due to one's medical condition. Again research an oil's properties before use and who might need to avoid use of a particular oil.
  • Take caution if your pregnant and avoid essential oils during the first trimester.  Then proceed with caution as there are some oils to avoid during this time.
  • Essential oils can damage fine furniture finishes. Don't allow direct contact with furniture finishes.  Make sure diffusers are situated so no damage can occur.  Use something to protect the surface underneath them. Use common sense.
  • Don't ever take the oils internally.
  • Don't apply the oils directly to the skin undiluted.  Use a carrier oil such as almond, or jojoba or try a different carrier oil.
  • Do a skin test to see if you might have a negative reaction. Also some oils increase the skins sun sensitivity making you burn faster.
  • Store oils away from light and heat and always OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN.
  • Keeps oils away from eyes, nose and mouth.
