Common Name: Jamaica Pepper, Myrtle pepper, pimento or newspice
All spice berry is the dried unripe berry of the Pimenta dioica plant and seems to combine the flavors of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.
Usage: The dried berries are ground and used for cooking in everything from barbecue sauce to desserts. The leaves are used for cooking as well and look quite similar to bay leaves. The wood is used for smoking meats. Allspice is also available in essential oil form. Allspice is believed to relieve indigestion and gas. Add a drop or two to a good carrier oil and massage to alleviate stiff muscles and aching joints.
Precautions:Those with irritable bowel or other digestive issues should use with care. Can be irritating to the skin always dilute before using.
